This lively combination of “I Saw Three Ships” and original music and lyrics is especially appropriate for Christmas or Epiphany. The first tune and lyrics are from “I Saw Three Ships (Come Sailing In)”, a traditional and popular Christmas carol from England. The earliest printed version of “I Saw Three Ships” is from the 17th century. The second tune is original, but the lyrics are adapted from “Angels We Have Heard on High”, a Christmas carol, with lyrics written by James Chadwick in 1862.
This newly composed choral setting for mixed choir and piano which can be an effective addition to winter and holiday concerts as well as advent services.
